How to Participate in St. Pete’s Battle of the Burg(er)

unnamedAttention carnivores (and herbivores!) it’s that time of year again: The 5th Annual Battle of the Burg(er) is here! This month-long event celebrates the timeless deliciousness of meat (or veggie) patties between bread. Of course it’s not that simple: Grand Central District restaurants are sparing no detail creating and assembling their original contest dishes. Entries don’t have to be traditional “burgers,” per se, but a burger-like sandwich of sorts that stays true to the restaurant’s specific style of cuisine. Let’s take a look at all this year’s participating Battle of the Burg(er) restaurants:

Meat options:

  • Casita Taqueria with a Mexican Torta Sandwich
  • Engine Rose with “The Versailles”
  • Old Key West Bar & Grill with “The Memphis Burger”
  • Punky’s Bar and Grill with “The Punky Burger”
  • The Burg Bar & Grill with a Classic Patty Melt
  • Zaytoon Grill with their “Zaytoon Burger”
  • The Queens Head with “Sweet and Savoury Sliders”

Vegetarian options — a first for the yearly contest:

  • Community Cafe with “The Bella Burger”
  • Craftsman House Gallery with “The Bungalow Burger”
  • Leafy Greens with their “Leafy Greens Burger”
  • Love Food Central with “The Love Burger”

Each restaurant will be serving its signature burger throughout September. Here at The Queens Head, we’ve put together a burger that hits a variety of taste and flavour receptors, giving the diner a well-rounded (pun obviously intended) experience.

unnamed-2The base of our Sweet and Savoury Sliders is a beef patty. We top the patty with chorizo jam, cheddar cheese, caramelized onions and fried onion straws. The creation is served in a toasted brioche bun for a multi-texture, multi-flavor experience. We love these sliders and we hope you do too.

And if you do, we invite you to click this link and —>  vote for The Queens Head Sweet and Savoury Sliders in the 2016 Battle of the Burg(er).

Meat options and vegetarian options will be judged separately. In addition to community voters, guest judges will participate in the contest, choosing their “Judge’s Choice” winner in each category. For a detailed list of ingredients and photos of all entries, visit the contest’s Facebook page.

St. Pete has so many wonderful food options to satisfy any gastronomic craving and we want to make sure we leave our mark on your taste buds! Come in and enjoy our Sweet and Savoury Sliders and make your vote count! Again, you can vote RIGHT HERE AT THIS LINK! Easy as that.
